11-Year-Old Girl Sacrifices Her Life to Save Cousin in Tubing Tragedy

A summer day full of laughter and fun turned into a heartbreaking tragedy on June 24 at Star Lake in Florida. Eleven-year-old Jordan Roe showed incredible bravery and love when she gave her life to save her 8-year-old cousin, Laila, during a tubing accident.

Jordan, Laila, and their 9-year-old friend Brylee were being pulled on an inflatable tube behind a Sea-Doo watercraft. Suddenly, the tube crashed into a dock, throwing all three children into the lake. While Brylee suffered only minor injuries, Laila was badly hurt and had to be rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

In the midst of the chaos, Jordan did something truly heroic. She used her body to shield Laila from the worst of the impact. Sadly, Jordan didn’t survive the accident — but her brave and selfless act saved her cousin’s life.

Jordan shielded her cousin during a tragic tubing accident, saving Laila’s life at the cost of her own.

Her aunt said it best: “She sacrificed her life to save her cousin.”

Laila’s mother, Kristine Robinson, was in Tampa caring for her newborn when she received the devastating call. Now, through her grief, she is speaking out about the importance of water safety and reminding families to hold their loved ones close, because life can change in an instant.

Jordan Roe, 11, was known for her kindness and dream of becoming a veterinarian. Her bravery continues to inspire many.

Jordan was a shining light in her family. She was known as the “protector” — always looking out for others. She dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and had a kind, gentle heart. Even after her passing, Jordan continued to help others by being an organ donor, giving the gift of life to people in need.

The community has come together to support the family during this difficult time. Two GoFundMe pages have been set up — one to help with Jordan’s funeral expenses and another to assist with Laila’s ongoing recovery and medical care.

Jordan’s bravery and love have left a mark that will never be forgotten. Her story is a powerful reminder of how deep the bond between family can go — and how one act of courage can save a life.

In honor of Jordan, let us all take a moment to appreciate the people we love, practice safety during summer activities, and remember that even the smallest among us can be true heroes.
